Overview

Sirimon route is considered by many as one of the easiest routes to reach Peak Lenana. The route is on dry side of the mountain and affords walks through old growth forest on lower slopes and giant heather, Alpine flowers and lobelia in higher elevations.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Nairobi - Old Moses Camp

Leave Nairobi to Nanyuki cross the Equator arriving in the afternoon. After lunch, proceed to Sirimon gate. You will be walking through the rain forest for 10 Km, follow the track uphill until you reach Old Moses camp 3,300m.
Dinner/overnight.

Day 2 :
Old Moses Camp - Shiptons Camp

After breakfast, leave at 7.30 to Shipton camp, which normally takes 6 hrs. You will have picnic lunch on the way. Dinner/overnight at Shipton 4250m.

Day 3 :
Shipton Camp - Mackinder's Camp

Wake up at 2.00am, have tea and biscuits and then leave to the summit at 3.00 a.m. You will be walking towards a steep ridge of scree passing the Square tarn until you reach point Lenana at 6.30 am for sunrise. Then descend to Mackinder's camp for breakfast.
Dinner/overnight.

Day 4 :
Mackinders Camp - Met Station

After breakfast, descend via Tereki valley to Met station which normally takes for 5 hrs dinner/overnight at Met station 3,050m.

Day 5 :
Met Station - Nairobi

After breakfast, descend down through the equatorial rain forest to Naro Moru gate for 2 hrs, connect your transport back to Nairobi.
