Ikweta Safari Camp

Laikipia

Ikweta Safari Camp is part of the IKWETA brand of hospitality establishments promoting affordable safari luxury, high standards, and value for money in environments noted for natural elegance, style and convenience. It is a small owner-operated tented camp with 10 luxury tents located just 2 km from the main gate of Meru National Park. It is a year-round destination and a convenient base for exploring both Meru and Kora National Parks, two of Kenya’s parks to offer a complete wilderness safari experience.

The tents are tastefully decorated in safari-style with high quality furniture including either twin or double beds. Bathrooms are separate en-suite, with flush toilets and hot showers, and each tent has a private verandah and faces East for guests to enjoy the spectacular sunrises from the comfort of their beds.

Both Meru and Kora team with wildlife, including the famed Big Five – elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. Moreover, Meru is also a bird watchers paradise. Over 400 bird species are reported. Other than its natural beauty, Meru is the setting for the film Born Free, based on the book of the same title by Joy Adamson featuring Elsa the Lioness. It is the park where Joy and George Adamson set Elsa free into the wild. Many visitors to the park still visit Elsa’s grave to pay their respects. Kora is also famous as the former home of George Adamson.
